The Allmannajuvet zinc mines are a disused mining works in Sauda, Norway. The mines were in operation from 1881 to 1899. During these years a total of 12,000 tonnes of zinc ore were extracted. Today, the mining area is a museum. The plain buildings in the gorge are designed in an industrial construction style to embody the story of the mines.

The Swiss architect and Pritzker laureate works industrial-style buildings into Norway's Allmannajuvet gorge. The Tourist Route Department of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration may not sound like the greatest place to work, but its name belies its creative dynamism. The ‘allmannajuvet’ site will tell the story of the region’s zinc mines that were in operation between 1881 and 1899, a practice that employed as many as 168 workers from the nearby village. In an agreement with the Norwegian public roads administration, Sauda municipality assumes responsibility for site’s operations, upkeep, and maintenance.
